May is a special month. It’s the month we celebrate Mother’s Day. For this month I decided I wanted to showcase women who had to push past numerous obstacles to reach a major goal in their life.
In this month’s podcast I discussed goal setting and the power of grit and God’s grace with Damaris Hollingsworth.
Damaris grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil. She came to the U.S. to become an architect when she was 29 years old! She didn’t speak a word of English. She is now a full time working mom and a licensed architect. In her day to day work she oversees project staff, works with clients to ensure their goals are met, guides building program development and facilitates vital documents during the design and construction phases of a building. She is also a good friend, a wife and a mom to an adorable little girl.
In this episode Damaris shares:
- How our grit and God’s grace push us forward towards our goals
- How to deal with bias and other inequities in the workplace
- How to glean from personal and professional mistakes for lasting success
- Her journey of determination to become an architect despite the various obstacles in her path
Listen to today’s podcast and leave a lesson learned or a question about goal setting for Damaris in the comments.
