For the month of August our conversations on the podcast will help parents transition their families into a new and very different school year.

Christine Duvivier students strengths

My guest for today’s episode is Christine Duvivier. Christine Duvivier is an international speaker, author and positive change mentor. She speaks, teaches and coaches for organizations, leaders, students and communities that are ready to think beyond traditional myths that hold us back and want to use positive practices to tap into the powerful energy available to them so that they live into more of their true spirits and who they ultimately want to be. She holds an MBA and a Masters degree in Positive Psychology.

Christine and I discuss:

  • The myth of the bad student, the myth of the good student and the myth of the best system and how it’s impacting our kids
  • Why our current system of schooling can lead to depression for some students and what we can do about it
  • 7 hidden gifts and how we uncover them
  • Helping our kids become more confident and resilient in school

You can watch the video of our conversation at Facebook.com/StrongHerMe

Quotes from the episode:

“The system is structured in a way and teaches thought patterns that cause depression and anxiety.” – Christine Duvivier

“We don’t really have any control over what our kids think…what’s interesting is how much impact we have.” – Christine Duvivier

“I think it’s so empowering when you take control as a parent of yourself and decide I’m going to define how I want to think about this (my child and their strengths) and I don’t want other people defining it for me. ” – Christine Duvivier

We don’t know any other way to honor this man th We don’t know any other way to honor this man than to tell the truth.

Today we repost the words of one of our most beloved disruptors @kaysfoodforthought:
“When MLK Day rolls around we often get the sanitized, after-school special version of him that makes everyone feel comfortable and docile.

Today, let's remember the true legacy of this great agitator. This architect of resistance who called a spade a spade so elegantly that he wooed half of America while inciting the other half. Let's remember his call to lay down our comforts and conveniences and take up in their place righteous indignation and a commitment to fight for what's right - even if it means offending some along the way.

You can relish in the myth of him as merely another peacemaker, or, you can be awakened to the vision of him as a revolutionary.

Today, I honor the man who was a disruptor of the status quo and vow to continue that good fight.

Be. A. Disruptor.”

How are you disrupting the status quo?

We are grateful to say we didn't just hobble through to the end of 2020. We are flourishing!

Authenticity served us well in 2020.

Our business, our founder (@kendratillman), the women we served grew and transformed as we leaned in to our uniqueness. We want to continue sowing those seeds in 2021. So, the word that will continue to guide us in 2021 is Authenticity.

We would love to know your word for the year for 2020. Please share it in the comments.
